Design an Easy-Clean Toilet

I hate cleaning baths. There. I have said it. I’m not proud, but I’m not really ashamed either. I’ve got better things to do with my time … well, definitely more fun things to do with my time. Do not you? Not everybody has a housekeeper, so when you are the person who has to perform the cleanup, your layout choices will make a large effect on you every day. If you employ the strategies below, you may end up with a bathroom that feels and looks like a dream bathroom but cleans as readily as a no-nonsense public bathroom.

Simply say no to grout. Scrubbing grout lines has to be one of the least favorite chores when cleaning a bathroom. Using solid-surface options for your walls will spare a lot of elbow grease. Stone slabs have couple of seam lines, and they are very thin.

Caesarstone was utilized for the brown counter and walls in this bathroom. You may use everything alone or together with tile to amazing effect.

Vinyl wall coverings have come a long way. They include amazing texture or pattern to your bathroom, and you can wipe them down with a sponge.

Back-painted glass is an alternative for walls, and also you can use it on counters too, if you are seeking to go groutless.

In areas where your walls don’t absolutely have to be tiled, paint is a fantastic alternative. Use one specially formulated for baths for its resistance to mildew. Many manufacturers offer these. My favorite is Benjamin Moore’s Aura Bath and Spa Matte Finish. I’d enjoy it in this bright orange. What a fantastic colour for revving up your day in the morning.

Tip: Purchase the best and most quiet fan you can get for your bathroom and put it on a timer. Which might not sound like a design plan for making your bathroom much easier to clean, but it’s. In case you have a fan that sounds like a jet engine, you are less inclined to turn it on and that will lead to an increase in mildew … and that means more cleanup for you. A whisper-silent one is so quiet you will need a timer so that you don’t forget to turn it off.

If you can not eliminate grout lines entirely, then at least reduce the number and thickness.

Large-format ceramic tiles come in sizes all the way around 24 inches by 48 inches. I had a little fun with all the math. Should you use a single 24-inch-by-48-inch tile rather than 4-inch-by-4-inch tiles covering the same area, you eliminate 42 ft of grout lines!

Select a linear drain. See that narrow channel at the bottom of the wall? That is a linear drain. Installing one way your shower floor will have a level slope in one direction, which means it’s possible to conduct your large-format floor tile directly on into the shower rather than using small mosaic tiles to accommodate numerous directions of slope. It will set you back around $1,000, but ask yourself how much you hate cleaning grout.

Simply say no to glass. I hate cleaning glass almost as much as I hate scrubbing grout. This shower is positioned around a corner at a moist zone, entirely eliminating the need for a glass partition. With large-format tiles and a slab countertop too, this bathroom is very low maintenance.

You can go even more extreme and create a fully watertight wet room. The handheld showerhead lets you down it and go. In fact, handheld showerheads are a genuine help in cleaning your shower even if you have a more conventional-style bathroom. Get one.

Go frameless. The aluminum frames round glass shower doors are a magnet for gunk. Going frameless on your glass gives you a very simple sheet to squeegee clean. There are a number of options for coatings on glass that also allow it to repel water and soap scum. Check with your glass shower door manufacturer for factory coating options. Many individuals recommend manually applied water repellants like Rain-X.

If you hate cleaning glass and a moist room isn’t for you, think about using a shower curtain. Toss the shower curtain and its own waterproof liner at the washer to clean it. A nice bonus to using a shower curtain is that the visual warmth fabric increases the decor.

Get everything off the floor. You already know I don’t like cleaning grout or glass, so imagine my ideas on cleaning toilets. The number-one disgusting chore in a bathroom is getting on your hands and knees to clean around a bathroom crammed into a narrow area with this dreadful, convoluted shape across the side.

Wall-mounted toilets are less difficult to reach all the way round. In addition they make cleaning the floor easier. Notice that in this bathroom they even wall-mounted the toilet brush. Nice idea! Mounting your vanity the wall will even make the floor easier to clean. But naturally, if you have one with pretty legs in this way, occasionally a decorative element is worth cleaning around.

If you opt not to install a wall-mounted bathroom, then in the very least, select a skirted version. The smooth sides don’t capture as much dust and gunk.

John Lum Architecture, Inc.. AIA

Wall-mounted faucets are a better option than deck-mounted ones. Gravity is working for you, taking water and soap residue away from the faucet rather than having it all collect in the bottom. Wall-mounted taps keep the counter clean, which makes it much easier to wipe down it.

Garret Cord Werner Architects & Interior Designers

Seamless minimalist and stone wall-mounted taps are easy to clean. Should you prefer to drink red wine at the restroom, then you may want to choose something aside from white marble — but it’s pretty popular for baths.

Michael Abrams Limited

Choose tile placement carefully. I have been showing you lots of baths that remain away from mosaic tile, but If you like the texture and the appearance, then place it where it will need the smallest quantity of cleaning. This bathroom vanity uses solid marble slabs all over the business area of the bathroom, with the herringbone mosaic positioned higher so it’s from the splash zone.

If you are craving feel but don’t need one that rips up a sponge, then there are a few beautiful options out there. This crocodile texture does not have any sharp edges, and you may get it into large-format tiles.

Clifton Leung Design Workshop – CLDW.com.hk

This is another fantastic example of a textural wall tile that would be much easier to clean than a mosaic tile. When you choose your textural tile, then run your hands over it. If it feels rough and scratchy, it will be a bear to clean. Ones like these feel smooth and glossy, despite the fact that it’s possible to feel that the low and high spots.

Have a place for all. One thing that makes it easier to clean a bathroom is to get a spot for what you want to store away. No thinking about where to place it or having to arrange a messy drawer to generate room.

Archipelago Hawaii Luxury Home Designs

In case you have the space, a washer and drier in the bathroom will eliminate a lot of measures to keep towels and bath mats clean and clean.
