The easiest way to maintain miniblinds clean would be to regularly dust on the forks with a microfiber cloth, duster or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. But when a deep cleaning is necessary, keep your miniblinds clean and fresh with an assortment of methods.

Vinyl, Plastic or Aluminum

Eliminate the blinds from the window and set them in a bathtub full of warm water, 2 tablespoons of dish soap and a cup of white vinegar. Swish the blinds about in soapy water and let them sit for one hour. Drain the tub and rub on the blinds with warm water. Gently shake them to get rid of excessive water and allow them to dry.

Wood Miniblinds

Wood miniblinds might be left over the window while they’re washed. Use an excellent wood furniture polish, or create your own by combining 1-cup mineral oil, 1/4-cup white vinegar, and 1/4-cup water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on individual pliers and polish them with a microfiber cloth. Don’t soak the blinds in water; it may make the forks to warp.

Fabric Miniblinds

Fabric miniblinds, especially silk, are the hardest to clean. For your best results, contact a professional cleaner. Blot the stains with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and a clean white cloth until they disappear. Do a spot check at first to be sure the solution doesn’t discolor the fabric. Don’t use water on textile miniblinds.
