Banks are a problem in any landscaping scenario, because of rainwater erosion and how they are occasionally on too much of angle to mow easily. Create plant beds on a sloped lawn propped out as you feel comfortable. Surround the plant beds with some kind of landscape edging to keep mulch or other bed covering from washing away. Use plants of various heights in the mattresses, including trees. The vegetation will hold soil in the mattresses will break up the flow of water so the bank does not develop ruts.

Total Coverage

If your bank isn’t terribly steep but still is difficult to mow, cover it completely in vegetation to get rid of the matter completely. The plants will maintain the soil, keeping it in eroding, and the full coverage will add an interesting look to the bank. Use plants of various sizes in addition to flowers. Place the plants in rows to make the look more formal. Alternate between two unique plants within the row to change height or colours. Or create a more random mix with the plants and also add in medium and large stones to make the region seem more natural.
